(More customer reviews)I read the previous review that it buzzed, but i figured he got a bad one. So I bought it, and sure enough after a few days of continus operation, it buzzes. Thank goodness this is in my living room, so the buzzing sound is not easily heard unless you get about 2 feet from it. But if this was in my bedroom, I'd have concerns.

The setup is easy enough right out of the box. I put it on auto, and it adjusts the speed acording to dust levels and oder levels. In my opinion, the auto works well in detecting and cleaning oders, but as far as dust, either my house is super dust free, which I doubt as I have carpet, or the dust senor is not sensitive enough. It almost alwasys stays on low no matter if the doors are open of if the kids are playing in front of it.

With that said, there is no way to know if it's actually taking dust out of my living room just yet. I'd like to think it is, and I'm sure it is, but to what levels is unknown to me. I bought a big round air cleaner years ago by another company, and it's round shape made it too big to put anywhere usefull, so it ended up cleaning up my basement, using a timer, I am able to keep the basement clean.

As far as this air cleaner, it's better than nothing, it's better than buying the next model up at twice the price, it buzzes lowely, so bedroom placement is questionable, but it's cleaning the air. So it gets 3 stars for cleaning the air, but loses 2 stars for buzzing and having a poor auto dust sensor.

(More customer reviews)I use it in my closet for litter pan odor control and it works great!I have to leave the light on all the time or the ionizer isn't activated, but if our cats leave a number two there isn't any smell escaping at all from the closet!It takes a couple minutes, but when I open the door the smell is gone!It can't, however, handle if we let the litterbox get out of control but it sure eliminates daily odors and makes it easier to breath when we have to scoop the box.And the bulbs in our kitchen really keep down cooking odors and of course the bathroom bulbs are great after our 21 year old Son does his duty.The other gentleman who complained hasn't ever posted a positive comment on Amazon, I almost didn't buy this item from reading his recommendation here but glad I looked into his other complaints and took a chance!

It has an odor sensor and remote control. I can tell a difference in the air quality and I have to dust less. The 3 types of filters are prefilter, true hepa filter and plasmawave technology which means it kills bacteria and viruses with an electromagnetic field. I was happy to get such a nice volume filtration unit at a low price. It is light and fairly slim and really pumps the air through.

(More customer reviews)This item was a direct OEM replacement to the filter that came with my unit.There was NO discrepancies between this one and the original.

Aside from the obvious shipping materials (which were ample):The packaging for this product is minimal: only a purple bag around it.No pointless extra box or other materials you just end up throwing away.The purple bag is "PE rated for recycling.

My last filter lasted 3 years, which is 18 months longer than suggested.How I knew it was time to change out the filter was that the unit began to suck air around the filter instead of through it.I would recommend NOT going quite this long, maybe 24 months.

I did, however, vacuum the filter every month or so with a good HEPA rated vacuum.This will prolong the life of your filter to 24 months, depending on your environment.

(More customer reviews)I've had this unit for a week now, and I'm pleased with the results I have got out of it. My bedroom is only about 140sq feet, but since this is rated for larger rooms than mine, I am able to run it on Medium rather than High and still get some nice filtering from it. I run it on Low while I sleep, turn it off when I wake up, and run it on Medium or High for a couple of hours before I go to bed each night. I try to keep my door shut while it is on.

I'm an asthmatic and allergic to my two cats, and have been suffering for the last month (we have had them for a couple of years now). I haven't been able to figure out why I've suddenly begun having symptoms again, but it has been problematic to say the least, and I've had to use my inhaler daily, as I typically wake up with asthma symptoms. I decided that since I could not find the cause of my problems (we tried changing their litter type, brushing them daily, changing their food, and doing a thorough clean-up of my room), I would try to purify my bedroom's air while I sleep, since that is when I generally have problems. The first night I still woke with asthma symptoms, but since the second night I'm completely free and can breath much easier at night. I believe this has helped me sleep better, as I no longer struggle to breath each night.

The unit is quite loud in a room of my size, unless it is on Low (it's no louder than my room fan when it's on Low). My computer is in my bedroom, and I use headphones if I'm using it, so that I may run the purifier on Medium or High. Otherwise, after a day of getting used to it, I no longer notice that it's there. You would not want to put this in a medium or large bedroom, unless you purified during the day and turned it to Low or Off while you slept.

Honeywell claims that their HEPA filter is cleanable and only needs to be vacuumed every 6 months. The unit also requires an activated carbon prefilter to eliminate odors, and mine came with the initial prefilter and two additional free prefilters (yours may not have this, it appears to be a special offer). There is a small display on the unit where it displays your programmed settings (which I did not find as useful as I had hoped), and where it also reports how dirty your filters are. If the HEPA filter is truly cleanable, then this will be a very cheap air purifier to maintain, compared to other models which require you to purchase a $20-40 filter every few months.

Oh! I almost forgot to mention how convenient the remote is! I don't have to get up when I decide to take off my headphones or turn on my television, I can just hit a button on the remote and swap it to Low or Off. This is such a convenient feature that should not be overlooked, if you spend a lot of time in the room where you'll keep this unit.

(More customer reviews)At the recommendation of my sister, who has bought the Paralda first - we purchased the air purifier for our home. My mother suffers from asthma and terrible allergies and lives with us - so anything we can do to make her more comfortable is worth it.

The Paralda is long and slender yet compact - it easily fit in our living room and didn't stick out like a sore thumb. It is very quiet and has varying speeds. It also had a UV lamp that zaps bacteria - and anything the HEPA air filter doesn't get. I noticed the air seemed fresher and there was less dust on the furniture. It felt like the pristine air you usually find in the dentist office - fresh, cleaner, very comfortable. The Paralda is not noisy at all compared to our Ionic Breeze air purifier we used to keep in my mother's bedroom. The control pad was very easy to figure out - even my mother could manage it on her own.

We have had the Paralda for several weeks now - and my mother seems to have more energy from sleeping better as a result of our cleaner air - which makes the price, to me, completely worth it. I must also mention - we run the Paralda all the time - and we have seem no marked increase in our electric bill ... it is a Energy Star rated appliance - and every little bit of savings helps us nowadays. I'd highly recommend this unit.

(More customer reviews)I searched through a large selection of air filters trying to optimize price, utility, reputation, and ease of use (I don't have time to replace some components every 6 months and other components every 3 months, etc). I decided on the Austin Air Healthmate Air Purifier.From there, it was a search for a reasonable retailer. Due to price (along with free shipping) and Amazon backing, I chose All Seasons Health.

The product arrived quickly and in perfect condition--I would definitely order other products through this retailer.

I pulled the Healthmate out of the box and after reading the instructions, I plugged it in and away it went (yep, that was it). I was having a problem with new carpet installation (an abundance of VOC's causing watering eyes, sore throat, and dizziness); the difference in just two days was remarkable and noticed by others. The Healthmate has three settings, low, medium, and high. The output on high is amazing and has an added benefit of dramatically increasing airflow in the room. The low setting is quiet enough to sit next to the machine and watch a movie without difficulty.

According to the instructions, in about four to five years I will have to replace the filter inside and from a cursory review of the instructions, it should be much simpler than replacing my water filter.

I will add further comments closer to allergy season.

Holmes HAP706-U True HEPA Mini-Tower Allergen Remover Review

(More customer reviews)As soon as I got it, I started it running full-speed in my 120sq.ft bedroom all evening and night. Within an hour or two of running, I could already tell a noticeable difference in the air quality. I have the ionizer running as well. The air is fresher, and I can breathe easier. It is the first time in years, I woke up without my nose and throat congested from my dust/mold allergies.

While the box states it is only for rooms up to 81sq.ft. I found it has worked really well in my slightly larger room. The high fan-speed is powerful, but noticeable in sound. However, it is only just as noisy as any "wind" type fan. However, on the medium and low fan-speeds it is practically inaudible. It is currently on the medium fan-speed and my desktop computer is louder than it at this moment.

This takes the Holmes "D" type filters, and I can get a 2-pack at my local WalMart for $30. The instruction manual says that based on air quality and typical usage, you should change the filter every 10 - 12 months. Therefore, a $30 2-pack could last you two years. Also, of course, the Air Purifier does come with a filter preinstalled. Typical usage according to the instruction manual is operating it continuously.

I do not smoke, nor do I have any pets. So, I cannot attest to its usefulness in that regard. However, my room has a mold problem and I also have a dust allergy.

I am quite please with the Holmes HAP706-U Air Purifier.

I now own two.A desk size model i keep right on my bed stand.I read the consumer reports review but it really means nothing to me when I've seen the instant and obvious improvement i have with my allergies.

I also got my gf one because my allergies would always act up at her place.Once she started using it again i had a very noticeable instant improvement.

Even better is the San Diego fires have causes so much air pollution.The most harmful being the particles around 2.5nm.Luckily for me the ionic breeze removes from .05 nm and up.Using both mine and my gfs in the same 1 bed room apartment kept the air extremely clean.

You might not notice this instant change if you don't have allergies.But just clean the blade once and you'll be a believer.The amount of dust and dirt this thing collects is amazing.

(More customer reviews)I have only had the Ionic Pro Compact for a few days and it is really living up to what I have heard and read about it. From the moment I turned it on, I had a sense that it was doing wonderful things. But I couldn't really tell. So I had to put it to a test. I cooked up a big batch of sausage and peppers, New York Italiano style, and really stunk up my apartment.(I have a three bedroom 1,050 sq. ft. place.) I left to go to a hockey game which took about 2 and 1/2 hours.(We lost. Damn.) By the time I got back you couldn't tell if anyone had cooked Macaroni and Cheese. Amazing!! Not a single whiff of anything. Dusting is a big problem for me. I fri***n hate it. Now I don't see that I am going to have to dust very often at all. The particles are right there for me to see on the grids. Wonderful product. I am recommending it to all my friends. And I am going to get a second for my bedroom. One compact isn't enough for this much space. And I don't know if a tower one will be good to just be in one room.
